Psalms and Tones
About this day
A general section for the Liturgy of the Hours. Psalm tones are the simple recitation formulas to which the psalms and canticles of the Office are sung, each verse ending in a fixed cadence; the traditional system has eight tones, corresponding to the eight church modes.
