Saint Clare, Virgin

About this day

Clare of Assisi, moved by the preaching of Saint Francis, left her noble family at eighteen to follow Christ in poverty. With her sister Agnes and others she founded the Poor Ladies, now the Poor Clares, and was their abbess at San Damiano until her death.
