Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary

About this day

Joseph, a descendant of King David, was the spouse of the Virgin Mary and the foster father of Jesus, whom he protected and raised at Nazareth. Scripture calls him a just man. In 1870 Blessed Pius IX declared him Patron of the Catholic Church.
