About this day
Jean de Brébeuf, Isaac Jogues and their six companions, French Jesuit priests and lay missionaries, were martyred between 1642 and 1649 while bringing the Gospel to the Huron and Iroquois peoples in present-day Canada and New York. Known as the North American Martyrs, they were canonized in 1930.
