In Christmas Time

About this day

On the Octave Day of Christmas, January 1, the Church honors Mary as the Mother of God, the title the Council of Ephesus upheld in 431 because her Son is truly God. The solemnity restores the ancient Roman custom of keeping this day in her honor.
