About this day
In the thirteenth century seven noble men of Florence withdrew to a life of prayer and penance on Monte Senario and founded the Order of Servants of Mary, the Servites, devoted to the sorrows of the Blessed Virgin. Pope Leo XIII canonized them together in 1888.
