About this day
Romuald, a nobleman of Ravenna, became a monk after his father killed a relative in a duel. He founded many hermitages and monasteries, the best known at Camaldoli in Tuscany, uniting the monastic and hermit life in the Camaldolese Benedictines. He died on June 19, 1027.
