About this day
Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared six times to three shepherd children near Fatima, Portugal, asking for the daily Rosary, penance for sinners and devotion to her Immaculate Heart. The memorial was added to the Roman Calendar in 2002.
