Saint Cecilia, Virgin and Martyr

About this day

Cecilia, a Roman maiden of noble family, had consecrated her virginity to Christ; through her, her husband Valerian and his brother Tiburtius were converted and died as martyrs before her. Honored from early times and named in the Roman Canon of the Mass, she is the patroness of church music.
